Biju Patnaik International Airport is 4 km from the city centre — barely a 10-minute drive. We deliver the car right outside the arrivals exit. No parking charge if we're handing over within 15 minutes. If your flight slips by an hour, just message us; the wait is free.
The classic 3-day Bhubaneswar self drive itinerary
This is the most common trip our customers run. We've validated it across hundreds of bookings.
Day 1 — Bhubaneswar city + Dhauli (40 km total)
Lingaraj Temple → Mukteshwar → Khandagiri-Udayagiri caves → Dhauli Shanti Stupa at sunset. Park near the temples, no driving inside the old city.
Day 2 — Bhubaneswar → Konark → Puri (130 km total)
Leave at 8 AM. Konark Sun Temple by 10:30. Lunch at a beach shack on the Marine Drive. Puri by evening — Jagannath Temple darshan, then Golden Beach.
Day 3 — Puri → Chilika Lake → Bhubaneswar (220 km total)
Drive to Satapada (50 km from Puri), take the dolphin boat ride, then return to Bhubaneswar via NH 316. You'll be back by 7 PM.
Five things first-time renters in Bhubaneswar miss
- Puri's beachside parking is paid. Carry ₹50–100 in cash. UPI works at most spots but not all.
- Konark closes at 6 PM. Plan your arrival by 4 PM if you want to walk the full complex without rushing.
- NH 316 has only 2 fuel pumps after Pipili. Refill in Bhubaneswar before leaving — diesel is cheaper at the IOCL pump on the Khandagiri Ring Road.
- Daringbadi (Odisha's Kashmir) is 250 km from Bhubaneswar — not a day trip. Plan a 2-night stay; book a Thar or Scorpio N for the ghat sections.
- Cyclone-season caution. May–June and October–November can bring sudden storms. We'll proactively call you if IMD issues a warning during your booking.

Can I drop the car at Puri instead of Bhubaneswar?
Yes, for a one-way fee of ₹1,500–2,000 depending on car. Tell us at booking.
Is night driving safe on NH 316?
Generally yes — it's a well-lit 4-lane highway. We still recommend reaching your destination before 9 PM, especially in monsoon.
Can I take the car into Andhra Pradesh or West Bengal?
Yes with prior intimation. Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal accept Odisha-registered private cars for tourist use.
What's the deposit?
